Wild Mind

The theme word for today’s #hopewriterslife Challenge is: STORY

I began my day reflecting on these questions – What type of story is playing in my MIND? Is the story negative? Am I the hero? Is there a plot twist? Do I slay the dragon by the end of the day?! Do we all survive!? (JK)

I began today feeling tired and overwhelmed for the workload ahead of me. I did not feel like hero and I was in desperate need of a plot twist. I could hear the thoughts in my mind repeating- “I have so much to do today… There is not enough time. I am the only one doing all of this work, no one can help me. ” These thoughts made me feel defeated, deflated and anxious! Not exactly the ideal way to start the day.

I knew I needed to do something to help me shake the angst and increase my faith. I decided take a walk and listen to worship music. The walk helped a little, but I needed more. I went to a quiet place and sat down to read my Bible and renew my mind. During my reading, I read from Proverbs 12 – Because a proverb a day keeps the devil away!ūüėĀūüėä

"v.25 Anxiety weighs down the heart,
but a kind word cheers it up."

I wrote this verse down in my journal and was meditating on the part about a “kind word”. I know the power of encouraging words, they can melt away fear and set a soul on fire! I also know that encouragement does not have to be external, it can and should, come from ourselves! I prayed, asking God to help me stay encouraged today and aware of when the story in my head became negative and defeating.

I then procced to Instagram – Because the Holy Spirit speaks in mysterious ways and you never know what you will find! What I found was an awesome confirmation. As soon as I hopped on, I saw one of my friends had posted a video titled – Fight The Good Fight. My Friend records daily motivation on her website (http://www.angelabarnshaw.com/), she is awesome and she walks the talk! But today she was talking about how we must tend to our thoughts and be mindful of what thoughts we follow. I loved her words and I received the encouragement and wisdom!

I would love to tell you the story in my mind was positive all day, but that is not truth. But I will tell you, that when I caught myself in the negative story line, I was quick to flip the script, and change the narrative. Our thought life will never be perfect, the mind is wild and in constant need of renewing. But if you stay consistent with tending to your thoughts, weeding out the lies and replacing them with hope ~ You will TRANSFORM YOUR LIFE!

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
Then you will be able to test and approve what God‚Äôs will is‚ÄĒhis good, pleasing and perfect will.
Romans 12:2

Remember this when you feel discouraged, your story is not over yet – stay hopeful- The best is yet to be!

Much love Bloom friends,

Sarah

Let Your Voice Be Heard

Only you can tell your story.
As someone who writes, I believe there is great value in sharing parts of my life story. I know there is power in opening up, being vulnerable, and letting others know they are not alone. I know as a believer, that God is glorified when I share my testimonies! However, at times, I find myself holding back from sharing. I often tell myself, that others have come before me and told their story – therefore the world doesn’t need to hear MY story also‚Ķ
The world may not need to hear my stories of challenge and overcome, but you may need to. I remind myself that shame, guilt, and fear want to keep me silent. But the truth of God sets me free, and encourages me to seek healing and connection! I know it can be terrifying to step out and share the vulnerable parts of your life. It is easier to stay quiet, and just move along with life, and never tell your story. But, on the flip side, there is great healing and strength that can come from sharing and opening up with others.

Daily Habits That Will Help You Cultivate an Abundant Life

¬†“Jesus replied, ‚ÄúBut even more blessed are all who hear the word of God and put it into practice.‚ÄĚ

-Luke 11:28

Does an abundant life sound like a dream life to you?!  I believe God wants his children to prosper, flourish and be blessed in this life, and we find in the Bible, scripture after scripture, speaks this TRUTH!! As you read this post, I hope your faith grows and you are inspired to become a more disciplined believer.

So let’s dive right in…!

Daily Habits For Cultivating an Abundant Life:

  • Continually¬†Praise God. Give God the credit HE deserves! ¬†When life is good, praise God! When life is hard, praise God! When life doesn’t make sense, praise God! It is so good to create and maintain a habit of praising and thanking God. ¬†Simple ways to apply this are: starting your day thankful to be alive, thanking God for you food at lunch time, praising God for your loved ones at dinner time, and going to bed thinking of All the blessings that will come.

“From the rising of the sun to its setting, The name of the Lord is to be praised (with awe-inspired reverence).” Psalm 113:3

  • Keep Your Faith Strong. Being a person of faith means BELIEVING in who God says HE is and TRUSTING that HE will do what HE ¬†promised. Faith is a muscle and it needs daily training in order to grow. Praying, worshiping, reading your Bible, listening to sermons and surrounding yourself with other believers will help you increase your faith.

“And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.” Hebrew 11:6

  • Pray ALOT. ¬†Prayer is what connects us to God. All day we have an inner dialogue happening, and a way to begin praying more often is to simply bring God into your thoughts. By saying – “God please show me your plan in this situation which I am thinking about” – you turn your thoughts into prayers! You can do this all day, with every situation you encounter. It is wise to get in the habit of bringing God into your thoughts and focusing your thoughts on God.

16¬†Rejoice always, 17¬†pray without ceasing, 18¬†give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

  • Follow God’s Timeline. ¬†God’s timing is always PERFECT. Sometimes we can feel impatient, overwhelmed or confused by how our life is unfolding. ¬†This is why God invites us to develop a deep and mature relationship with HIM. When you have an intimate relationship with God,¬†it is much easier to TRUST and FOLLOW HIS timeline. ¬†Understanding HIS heart and HIS will for your life will give you the confidence necessary to navigate the ups and downs of life.

“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:” Ecclesiastes 3:1

I encourage you to choose one or two of the habits to focus on daily and build off that foundation! Ask the Holy Spirit to give you support and guidance as you add these new habit into your life. I can only imagine the shift that will happen in your life by simply adding a couple new habits!!! SO excited for you SISTER!!!

Much love,
